There’s always something new to try in Spain. I’m a big fan of Spanish red wines from pretty much any part of the country. The rosés are very special too. Recently I’ve even got a taste for white wine which is something I haven’t had for a while. Blue wine though? Well, that’s something very different so I just had to give it a try!
Up in the Basque Country a company called Gik are trying to change the world! They have produced this wine with a magnificent sky blue colour. It certainly looks extraordinary and I would encourage everyone to give it a go. I managed to pick up a bottle in El Corte Ingles in Alicante for €7. That’s cheap enough to see if it’s to your liking, I’m sure. If you like a sweet, fruity wine then it’s probably going to suit your palate fine. Sadly I like mine a lot drier than this so it wasn’t quite was I was looking for taste-wise.
Drama-wise it was perfect though. When your team play in blue and white, and they are sitting pretty at the top of the league, what more can you do than celebrate with a glass of blue out in the sunshine?
Here’s hoping it lasts. I did see a bottle of blue bubbly in the supermarket just before Christmas. If Brighton’s success lasts until May, I may have to buy a bottle of that too! Cheers everyone!!
